Privacy Policy
Last updated: September 6, 2026
01Who this covers
This policy covers the iOS app New Moon: Lunar Calendar (bundle identifier ai.overx.LunarCalendar) and its Home Screen widgets, published by Yauheni Malashchytski. It also covers this website.
It describes the app as submitted to the App Store. Where this page and Apple's privacy labels on the App Store listing describe the same thing, they are drawn from the same privacy manifest shipped inside the app.
02What stays on your device
Most of what New Moon does never leaves your iPhone:
- All astronomy. Moon phase, illumination, the lunar day and the exact minute a lunar day turns over are calculated on the device from a synodic cycle model. Nothing is fetched to work this out.
- All lunar day guidance. The ratings for every one of the 30 lunar days across the eight activity types ship inside the app.
- Your diary. Daily check ins, how you rated a day and any reflection you write are stored locally in the app's own preferences store.
- Your settings. Language, theme, week start and notification time.
- Notifications. Daily and evening reminders are scheduled locally by iOS. Nothing about them is sent anywhere.
The app works fully offline.
03What leaves your device
Four things send data off the device. Each is listed with exactly what it carries.
- Activity feedback. When you rate a recommendation in the My Experience tab, the app sends an anonymous identifier stored in your device Keychain, the lunar day, the activity type, whether you followed the recommendation, the outcome you chose, your language code and the app version. This is what produces the community percentages shown beside an activity once enough people have rated it. It is not tied to your name, your email or your Apple ID.
- The contact form. If you write to us from Settings, we receive your message, the category you picked, your email address only if you choose to enter one, and basic device and app version information so we can reproduce the problem.
- Cross promotion. The app fetches a small campaign file listing our other apps, so it can show one in place of a paid advert. This is a plain download and carries no personal data.
- Advertising. Covered in the next section, because it deserves its own.
Feedback and contact submissions are queued locally and retried if you are offline, then discarded after seven days if they cannot be delivered.
04Advertising and App Tracking Transparency
New Moon is free because of a single banner advert at the bottom of the Today tab. There is exactly one, there are no full screen adverts, no rewarded video and no adverts anywhere else: the Calendar, My Experience and Settings tabs and all three widgets carry none.
That banner is served by Unity LevelPlay (formerly ironSource), which mediates between several advertising networks. To do that it uses the identifiers below and contacts its own advertising and attribution endpoints, including postbacks-is.com, which is registered in the app as its attribution report endpoint.
This means the app does track, in Apple's sense of the word, and it declares so. Its privacy manifest sets tracking to true.
Shortly after you first launch the app, iOS asks you whether New Moon may track you across apps and websites owned by other companies. That is the App Tracking Transparency prompt, and it governs access to the advertising identifier (IDFA).
- If you allow it, the advertising identifier is available to the advertising network and the adverts you see are more likely to be targeted.
- If you decline, the advertising identifier is not available and you still see a banner, just a less targeted one. You lose no feature of the app whatsoever.
You can change your answer at any time in iOS Settings, under Privacy & Security, Tracking.
If you would rather have none of it, the one time purchase described below removes the banner and the advertising network with it.
05The in-app purchase
New Moon offers one non-consumable in-app purchase that removes the banner permanently. There is no subscription, no recurring charge and no free trial.
Payment is handled entirely by Apple. We never see or store your card details. Purchase status is managed through RevenueCat, which records an anonymous identifier and the fact that the purchase was made, so that Restore Purchases works on your other devices signed in to the same Apple ID. No account is created and we do not learn who you are from it.
06Third parties
These are every third party the app can contact, and why.
| Who | What for | What they receive |
|---|---|---|
| Apple | App distribution and payments | Purchase and download data, under Apple's own privacy policy |
| Unity LevelPlay (ironSource) and its mediated advertising networks | The Today tab banner | The advertising identifier when you allow tracking, device and advert interaction data, attribution postbacks |
| RevenueCat | Recording and restoring the remove adverts purchase | An anonymous identifier and purchase status |
OverX (our own servers, api.overx.ai) | Activity feedback aggregates, the contact form, cross promotion | As set out above |
We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use any separate analytics SDK beyond what the advertising network requires to function.
07The data types we declare to Apple
The app ships a privacy manifest, and its App Store privacy labels are generated from it. In full, it declares:
- Purchase history, for app functionality. Not linked to you, not used for tracking.
- Product interaction, for app functionality and analytics. Not linked to you, not used for tracking.
- Device identifier, for third party advertising and analytics. Used for tracking. This covers the advertising identifier and the anonymous identifier sent with feedback.
- Email address, for app functionality, linked to you, and collected only if you type one into the contact form.
- Other user content, for app functionality, meaning the free text you write in a support message. Not linked to you.
The app also declares that it reads and writes the system preferences store, which is where your settings and diary live.
New Moon does not request access to health data, location, the camera, the microphone, your contacts, your calendar or your photos, and it contains no code to read any of them.
08How long we keep things
- Diary entries and check ins stay on your device on a rolling 90 day window, after which older entries are dropped by the app.
- Activity feedback is aggregated into 90 day rolling statistics. The individual submissions behind them are not attached to any person.
- Contact form messages are kept for as long as needed to answer you and to keep a record of the issue, then deleted.
- Everything else on the device is removed when you delete the app.
Deleting the app removes your diary, your check ins and your settings from your iPhone. That data exists nowhere else, so there is nothing left for us to delete.
09There is no account to delete
New Moon has no sign up, no login, no profile and no cloud sync, so there is no account and Apple's account deletion requirement does not apply. If you want everything the app holds about you gone, delete the app.
If you have written to us through the contact form and want that message and any email address in it removed, write to support@overx.ai and we will delete it.
10Children
New Moon is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. The app carries an age rating on the App Store that reflects its advertising. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact form, write to support@overx.ai and we will remove it.
11Where data goes
Our servers and those of the third parties above may process data outside the country you live in, including in the United States. Where we transfer personal data out of the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on the European Commission's standard contractual clauses or an equivalent safeguard.
12Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask what personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how we use it, to receive a copy of it, and to withdraw consent.
In practice the app holds almost nothing that identifies you: unless you have used the contact form and given an email address, we have no way to connect any record to you. For anything we can act on, write to support@overx.ai.
If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority. If you are a California resident, we do not sell or share your personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA, and you will never be discriminated against for exercising a right under it.
13Security
Data sent to our servers travels over encrypted connections. The identifier used for activity feedback is held in the iOS Keychain. Your diary and settings sit inside the app's own container, protected by the operating system's file protection and by your device passcode.
No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise.
14Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects what we collect or who receives it, we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, say so in the app's release notes.
15Contact
Questions about this policy, or about anything above, go to support@overx.ai. You can also write to us from inside the app, under Settings, Support, Contact Us.
